Founded in 1965 as Rerehau Cardigan Welsh Corgis, then changed to the internationally recognised COPPERLEAF prefix in 1977. Breeding and showing Cardigans for 42 years and exporting to 8 countries, the Copperleaf bloodline became widely recognised for its high standard and excellent winning and breeding performance. You are invited to follow and view photographs of these dogs on the Copperleaf Cardigan Welsh Corgis Facebook page.

In 2007, after selling my biggest winners to a well-known breeding and showing kennel in the USA, I took a break from the dog fancy. In 2019 I returned to the breed, importing quality breeding stock from long-established winning bloodlines in Australia. I now occasionally have puppies and older stock available to discerning buyers. The health of my dogs is extremely important, and I run all necessary DNA tests. The kennel is situated in the rolling Waikato countryside. My planned next litter will likely be a mixture of brindle and black puppies.

I started my kennel in 2024 with two foundation bitches and one foundation dog. All three cardigans have been shown in the conformation show ring and achieved champion status. All three have had their genetic comprehensive testing completed before I started breeding. I will only breed from quality stock with good temperaments that are clear of genetic faults. I believe in breeding Cardigans to the breed standard so they can be used as a working dog as well as being the family pet. My dogs are also welcomed to a local rest home where they enjoy visiting with the residents. I also breed English/Irish Donkeys and Wiltshire sheep which is where the name Donnbrae comes from. Donn means brown haired in Irish and Brae is scottish meaning steep bank often near a river and used in place names. The name Donnbrae references my first donkey who is a brown haired jenny and the land where we live.
