I started showing dogs some 45 years ago in the UK with the prefix 'Lapsewood' being registered in 1970. I started judging gundogs at open show level in 1975. I moved to New Zealand in 1989 which allowed me to purchase my first Great Dane, a breed I had always loved and admired. Our Danes Max, Stanley and Luther share our home with Henry our Main Coon. I am registered to judge all breeds at open show level including Best In Show and Group 7 (Non Sporting) at Championship Show level.

Prefix : LAPSEWOOD (Great Dane)

The prefix Lapsewood was registered in the UK in 1970. We are proud to have bred and owned Best In Specialty Show and Best In Show (All Breeds) winners and have made up Champions in Fawn, Brindle and Black.

LAPSEWOOD GREAT DANES are shown fearlessly under the scrutiny of specialist judges so look forward to the opportunity at Great Dane Club shows which in recent years have attracted judges from the USA, UK and Australia. LAPSEWOOD have won BEST IN SHOW at 6 of the last 7 Great Dane Club championship shows, an accomplishment we are very proud of.

Although many Great Danes bred at LAPSEWOOD have a show record that speaks for itself, our priority is to produce sound, healthy dogs with outstanding temperaments that make perfect family companions.

We share our 4 acre property in Coatesville which is 30 kms north of Auckland City with our dogs who all live in as part of our family. Our three boys and two girls live as one family group without the need to separate as temperament is a priority for us. All dogs bred from are fully health tested.

We occasionally offer puppies for sale strictly to approved homes and are proud to be founding members of the NZKC accredited breeders scheme.

LAPSEWOOD's policy is to state only the truth in our advertising. A BISS Champion has won Best In Show at a Great Dane specialty show and a dog advertised as a champion has won a minimum of 8 challenges.
