Our dogs are part of the family weekdays and show dogs on the weekends. We simply enjoy doing things with them. Our main focus is on Conformation showing, but our dogs are also successfully competing in other Dog Sports; Scent Work, Rally-O, Obedience & Agility. We have dogs titled in every discipline by us or their owners.

We only breed when looking for another dog to join our team and puppies we don't keep are available to the best of family homes. We aim to breed happy healthy performance and companion cockers who will bring joy to their owners. More than anything cockers love to be your best friend - joining in with all your family activities, but are also highly successful and easily trained for competitive Breed Showing, Obedience Rally-O, Scent Work and Agility.

As a responsible breeder all puppies are Dogs NZ registered and parents DNA tested for PRA-prcd, FN, EIC & PKF and AON. You can be sure that no puppy we breed will be affected by these diseases. We provide lifetime support for every puppy we breed. We have been exhibiting at dog shows and breeding for over 50 yrs.
We take pride in producing sound quality puppies with lovely temperaments that adjust into their new families lives with ease, giving years of love and enjoyment.
We do the full DNA test which includes PRA and FN to ensure we do not carry those problems in our breeding.
We have bred and imported many top winning dogs that have won all breed Championship Best in Show and Reserve in Show, plus many Best of Group ,and many Best in Show Ch Specialty Shows.
Some of our bloodlines imported have come from UK, Sweden, Hungary, and Australia
These dogs plus other top winning dogs in our bloodlines have all taken their part in the soundness,lovely temperament and quality in the breeding of the puppies we are producing now.

Kalaugher is a small, home-based Cocker Spaniel kennel located in Weston, North Otago, dedicated to preserving the quality, temperament, and classic type of the breed. Our aim is to produce sound, healthy Cocker Spaniels that reflect the true breed standard in both temperament and type. Our Cockers are much-loved family companions and are also regularly exhibited in the conformation show ring. All dogs undergo comprehensive DNA health testing, including PRA-prcd, FN (AHRN), and AON, ensuring that puppies bred at Kalaugher will not be affected by these hereditary conditions. Puppies are raised inside our home, where they are well socialised with children and other animals, giving them a confident and well-adjusted start to life. We are always happy to provide ongoing advice and support to the families of our puppies throughout their lives. We breed only occasionally, usually when planning to retain a puppy for our own show team. As a result, litters are infrequent and puppies are placed in a small number of carefully chosen homes.
