We are a small kennel located on a lifestyle property south of Auckland New Zealand. At Karamu we are dedicated to breeding quality Irish Setters with superb temperaments, health, trainability through selective limited planned breedings. Our Irish Setters are excellent for show, obedience, agility and most of all as wonderful home companions that you can enjoy for a lifetime. We are only NZ Irish Setter Breeders using proven top confirmation and obedience breeding stock.

We are a small kennel selectively and occasionally breeding for conformation, health and temperament. All our stock is from top winning Swedish, UK and Australian bloodlines and are CLAD and PRA free and are hip scored prior to breeding. All our dogs are reared in the house as part of the family and none are kennel housed. Irish Setters are fun dogs for show, obedience, agility or most importantly as much loved companions and are excellent with children. We are always more than happy for people to visit our lovely dogs and see the happy go lucky Irish temperaments for themselves or chat about this wonderful breed by phone. I started my involvement in the dog world with my first Irish Setter in 1973. I have continued to breed and successfully show Irish Setters for the past 37 years under the Lanascol prefix - now having six NZ Grand Champions (a New Zealand Grand Champion requires the dog to have 50 Best Dog or Bitch awards plus 3 Best in Show All Breeds). Over the years I have also imported a number of Irish Setters to help with my breeding program.While not breeding as often now I do ahve the occasional litter.
