The oldest of the specialist retriever breeds, the Curly Coated Retriever is a gentle, friendly dog. They are a tall very handsome upstanding dog covered in short fine curls. The coat is low sheding. They come in two colours - liver or black. When fully grown they weigh about 40kg. They are very intelligent and make a wonderful family pet and love children. In the hunting situation they retrieve ducks and have a soft mouth not damaging the game they have just retrieved.

We have been involved with curlies since 1982 and since then we have tried to improve the quality of our dogs by selectively breeding for true curly type,conformation,temperament and working ability. We have widened our gene pool by importing dogs of UK, USA and Australian lines. We have been successful in the show ring but have always had pups that have good gundog working ability and make fantastic family pets. All our dogs are primarily house pets that enjoy a rural lifestyle on the Kapiti Coast of New Zealand. Our dogs are screened for heritable diseases and every pup is fully supported by us as breeders for its lifetime. Puppies are occasionally available to approved homes.
