Tynchewick Whippets was founded in 1972 by Marilyn Reynolds, who played an important role in re-establishing the Whippet breed in New Zealand. By importing Dachlah Aquarius and NZ CH Rosiel Masquerade from Australia, followed by NZ CH Nimrodel Wild Duck and So Beautiful of Nimrodel from prominent UK kennels, Marilyn established a strong and diverse foundation of bloodlines for Tynchewick.
Today, we remain committed to the traditional Whippet — elegant, balanced and sound, with the athleticism, movement and character that define the breed. Our dogs are bred first and foremost for health, temperament and sound construction, while retaining the natural athletic ability that makes them exceptional at Lure Coursing.
We are particularly proud of the versatility of the Tynchewick Whippet: equally at home running a course at speed, enjoying an active life with their family, or curled up on the sofa.
Most recently, the addition of Ringmore Jamieson (Dram) has further strengthened our breeding programme, reinforcing the valuable English bloodlines that have been part of Tynchewick Whippets since the beginning.
Our aim is simple — to preserve the traditional Whippet we love, while breeding healthy, sound and athletic dogs with the wonderful temperament that makes the breed such a special companion.
